Bourjois Java Rice Powder

One of my favourite products at the moment is the new Bourjois Java Rice Powder. To celebrate Bourjois' 150th anniversary this year, Bourjois have re-released their first ever international best seller, which is the iconic Java Rice Loose Powder from 1879. It is a really fine lightweight powder for illuminating skintone and comes in one transparent "universal" shade, although I'm not sure how well it would work on darker skin tones. It can be used over foundation to set your makeup but I think that all over it would look too disco-bally (might be a good item for pale illuminated Halloween makeup though) or more subtly as a powder illuminator, which is what I use it for. I use my Real Techniques setting brush to dust a little powder at the tops of my cheekbones and sometimes down my nose and brow bones. The setting brush is the perfect size and is brilliant for blending it in too. The scent of the powder is quite an old-fashioned floral smell in my opinion but I guess that goes hand in hand with the vintage inspired product, I am not overly keen on it but it doesn't bother me too much as I love the powder. I also wanted to mention that I like the fact you can open and close where the powder comes out of, as I find that loose powder ends up getting everywhere otherwise! Lastly, as some of you already know, I am a total sucker for nice packaging and I really love the vintage inspired packaging they have created for this product to celebrate the re-release.

The Real Techniques brush can be bought for £8.99 from boots here and the powder is available now from Boots and Superdrug and is priced at £9.99, which in my opinion is a tiny bit steep but I do love it!

Have you tried the Java rice powder yet?
Do you want to?

Let me know what you think my lovelies, I love your comments.

OXJAM 2013

Oxjam Music Festival takes place every October and is made up of hundreds of events happening around the UK. The Notting Hill Takeover takes place this Saturday (19th October) and will include multi-venue live music and DJ events. There are genres to suit every taste and they will be happening at some of the coolest places in Notting Hill, London. You can buy a £10 wrist band, which gets you entry to all 5 venues (Bargain! That's less than one gig...) and all proceeds to to Oxfam so it's a win win...can't go wrong with having fun while raising money for charity!

I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to be the Venue Manager for one of the venues (Portobello Gold) on the night and I can't wait to get stuck in. You can find out more information about Oxjam here and buy tickets in advance here or you can turn up on the night and get one from any of the venues if we're not already full of course!

The Globe will have you dancing until 2.30 in the morning and the other venues include Mau Mau bar, Trailer Happiness, Portobello Gold and the Castle all on Portobello Road. They will be showcasing bands, artists and Dj's like: Black River Wild, Latala, Lizzie Nightingale, Tom Mac Tom,Samson, Pyrelli, Dorjee, Afro Grooves and plenty more if you want to check them out first! It all kicks off at 3pm at Mau Mau Bar so get involved!

You can keep updated by following the Notting Hill Takeover twitter here: @OxjamNHTakeover

Come along, the more the merrier!

Benefit: Poutrageous - Ultra Plush Lip Gloss

I'm back! So it's been while since my last post but I was in my final few months of uni and wanted to get my head down. Uni is over for me now (scary but exciting) and I've been a busy bee enjoying this lovely (but rare) hot english summer. The heatwave has made me a little less gutted about the fact I don't think I'll end up going abroad this year...every cloud has a silver lining and all that jazz.

I've just had my 22nd birthday and got some lovelyyyy presents, which I will be including in my upcoming posts but for now I'll be writing a review on something I treated myself to today with some birthday money.

I was browsing in Debenhams and walked past the Benefit counter...slowly...as usual, and saw something that looked new. I picked up the pretty pink tube and couldn't help but put a little bit on my hand and then smother some on to my lips. I love lipgloss but I'm not a fan of sticky glosses that your hair gets stuck in with one small gust of wind. I had a little walk around the shop and rubbed the remainder of the gloss in to my hand and then noticed how smooth my hand felt, like I'd just moisturised! I was pleasantly surprised to notice how smooth the gloss felt on my lips, almost like a lip balm and the scent was really fruity, without being overpowering. I knew I had to get one and went for the shade 'Poutrageous', which is described as a bright-pink coral. The gloss comes in 6 shades, one of which is clear and I think they are definitely worth a try, I think they're delicious! The packaging is also really cute and has a vintage vibe, which I love.

Have you tried any of the new Benefit lip glosses? What do you think?
